Begin with three nights unravelling the best that Cape Town has to offer. Roam vineyards on wine tours, eat your way through delicious restaurants, explore mountain peaks and valleys and go back in time on historical adventures. Your hotel is conveniently located for easy access to Table Mountain, the V&A Waterfront, Sea Point and Robben Island.
Round off with three nights at the renowned Sabi Sands. A popular option is staying at the luxurious Lion Sands. Sharing an unfenced border with the Kruger National Park, animals move unhindered between the two areas. The lodge overlooks the Sabie River luring plentiful and varied game to its banks. Well known for incredible animals encounters, particularly with leopard, this pristine wilderness area provides unparalleled bird and wildlife viewing, with great photographic opportunities. Itinerary
Today you will arrive at Cape Town International Airport and make your way to your hotel. For those who prefer a self-drive option, you can collect your rental car at the airport and drive yourself to the hotel, or you can take a taxi and we can have your rental car delivered to your hotel. Either way, we will make all your transport and activity arrangements for you. The Luxury Traveler recommends you hire a car, as this will give you more freedom to explore the sights of Cape Town and its surrounds at your own pace.
Once settled in, you can relax at your hotel and pick from one of the top local restaurants for a lovely lunch or dinner. This will also be a good time to decide on any activities you would like to do over the next couple of days.

Over the next two days, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the Mother City of Cape Town and the surrounding local areas. Some top attractions include taking a cable car up to the top of Table Mountain, taking a historic boat trip and tour of Robben Island where former President Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, drinking wines and champagne at one of the surrounding vineyards or photographing penguins at Boulders Beach.
During the evenings, you can indulge in excellent cuisine at one of the many restaurants in town.
Overnight: More Quarters Hotel / similar
After breakfast, you will take your flight from Cape Town to Skukuza Airport. A representative will transfer you from Skukuza to your lodge in the Big-5 Sabi Sands Game Reserve, bordering the Kruger National Park. There are no fences between the reserves, allowing for the free flow of animals between these areas.
You will check into your luxury lodge and into your private suite. Over the next couple of days, you will explore this game-rich area on morning and afternoon game drives for animals like leopard, wild dog, rhino and giraffe. With scenic riverine areas, sandy grasslands and savannah bush, the Sabi Sands offers a diverse landscape – adding to the beauty of this wilderness area. Guided nature walks are also offered for those wanting to get a little ‘down to earth’.
Back at your lodge, gourmet meals, divine cocktails and pampering spa treatments can all be enjoyed together with luxurious suites and lounge areas. Crackling campfires and the evening calls of animals will lull you to sleep as you awake to another adventurous day in the African wild.
Overnight: Lion Sands / similar
Today you enjoy a final game drive and breakfast before departing for Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. From there you will fly to Johannesburg for your flight home.
